Babymoon Ideas

Heard of a honeymoon but unsure what a babymoon is all about? Well, this is an ultimate escape for those of you going the family way!
Cheryl Mascarenhas
One of the hottest trends to have gripped the travel industry is to provide exotic packages for young parents-to-be. The term babymoon originally referred to the time spent by parents bonding with the newborn baby.
However, more recently it refers to a vacation taken by an expecting couple to enjoy a last trip together. Babymoon is a romantic getaway for expectant parents to bond and prepare for the new arrival.

What is a Babymoon?

The arrival of a baby brings in additional responsibility and it often signifies lesser time for your spouse. We all know how tedious parenting really is, so let's just say, a babymoon offers the couple the calm before the storm. Jokes apart, it is a perfect getaway for couples to understand each other.
Babymoons are not just great bonding time for the young couple, but also a great way to bust the stress and preggie-blues that often plague the young parents. A babymoon offers new parents-to-be not just time alone, but also time to rest, relax and rejuvenate before the actual task of baby rearing sets in.

When to Plan It?

According to gynecologists, the safest time for an expectant mother to travel is the second trimester, that is, from the 18th week to the 24th week. While the first trimester is considered to be a period ridden with nausea and morning sickness, the third brings in probable discomfort, thus making it impossible to pursue any travel plans.
Your safety comes first, and it goes without saying that you would have to consult your doctor before planning that trip.

Ideas for a Great Babymoon

Whether you choose to call the trip a babymoon or a retreat or an escapade, it should not waver from the main motive, to spend enough time with your partner. Having said that, you can plan your trip according to your preference, wish list, and not to forget your mood (you know!). What's a better way to reconnect than heading to some place where you can enjoy, like...

... A Star Studded Beach

"The smell of the salty water, the wind in my face, the gentle roar of the waves all combine to create a sense of peace and calm." ~ Anonymous

Beach resorts are a perfect way to unwind, relax, catch up on some much-needed rest and spend quality time together. Can a romantic beach date ever go wrong? The answer is an obvious no.
The two of you can spend a lazy vacation at the beach, soaking up some vitamin D or simply walk on the beach with your arms linked together. The soothing sound of the waves lapping against the shore should help the mom-to-be by calming the senses and working as a stress buster.
Simply leave your cares behind and relax on a moonlit beach, just the two of you, lost in one another.

P.S.: Choose a beach that is serene and peaceful, rather than one that would be crowded.

... A Place in the Sky

"Come live with me and be my love, And we will all the pleasures prove, That valleys, groves, hills, and fields, Woods, or steepy mountain yields." ~ Christopher Marlowe

Not literally high up in the sky, but yeah, high up in mountain resorts - that's what we are talking about.
Mountain resorts are especially good for those of you who enjoy the pulsating thrill of a mountain stroll. Enjoy a walk amidst plush green cover, or simply unwind in the scenic view - you can have your pick at a mountain resort. What's more, you can even opt for camping under starry skies and cozy up to your partner on a river bank.
All this at a mountain getaway, plus you can enjoy fishing in little brooks or ponds with a neat fire to warm you up. The panoramic view that valleys and plains provide should be a good way to beat the baby blues and get the two of you together.

P.S.: Consume a lot of fluids to avoid dehydration and avoid extremely high altitudes.

... A Cityscape

"The buildings in the city side attract the eyes so bright and colorful."

Escape into a city if you enjoy the hustle bustle of city life and are irked by the silence of the countryside. A vacation in the city is a good option if you love to walk and pamper yourself with loads of shopping and eateries lining the way.
You can enroll yourself for a city tour, enjoy some sight-seeing or simply lounge in your room when not shopping.

... A Spa

"What a luxurious and wonderful world..."

Indulge, splurge and pamper yourself to the fullest with a trip to the spa. You will benefit with a rejuvenating spa treatment and a massage that will calm down your senses and agitated nerves.
Ask for couple spa services or check out the best possible deals which will provide you with prenatal information, facials, and shopping for expectant mothers. You can rekindle your romance with side-by-side massages or a soak in the jacuzzi.

... Set Sail

"It's out there at sea that you are really yourself." ~ Vito Dumas

Take a break from everything that life has to offer in your home town and book yourself on a cruise liner. A cruise liner is a perfect place to be for an expectant mother, as it is loaded with over-the-top pampering.
The sea breeze ruffling your hair and the calm of the seascape is beneficial and helps soothe and pacify tensed senses.

P.S.: Don't forget to consult your doctor and ask for some anti-nausea medicines before going on the cruise.

... Have a Staycation

"Being at home is relaxing, there are no hassles of dealing with airports, hotels and traveling."

Those of you who are worried of something going wrong, leave your worries behind and take a romantic staycation instead. This way you will be closer home and you can explore some of the bed and breakfast options in your city.
Besides you can even catch up on some movies together. Remember to disconnect your phones and unplug from all those heyday responsibilities.
Make the most of this opportunity to reconnect and strengthen your bond with your spouse before you are laden with diaper duty and sleepless nights. Allow yourself to be pampered and cheered up and keep the focus entirely on the two of you, rather than spend your babymoon hunting for names for your new baby.
